Mens fashion has been known for being very masculine. Although Styles was not the first male celebrity to break this sterotype, he definetly helped by bringing a more gender nuteral look to certain pieces. For example, he was the first male to be alone on the cover of Vogue Magazine, while wearing a dress, which led to many realizing his impact in fashion. Most recently, he has shown off his selective wardrobe during his 2021 world tour.

After his appearance on the cover of Vogue, a handful of influencers weren’t fond of his choice of clothing, specifically from author Candace Owens who had some bitter comments. For example, she felt the need to voice her opinion on Twitter by stating “bring back manly men.” This caused other celebrities to argue back such as Oliva Wilde calling Owens “pathetic”, and praising the cover by calling it modern. Fans were very pleased with the reactions from the media for standing up for Harry.

Fashion trends come and go year by year but Styles has managed to keep some of those alive. One trend used by many male celebrities like Billy Porter and Pharell, are pearl necklaces. It sounds simple enough to a woman perhaps, but many years ago before progress had been made, if men were seen wearing jewelry, feathers, ect. they were viewed as gay. One of Harry’s favorite designers that makes these iconic pearls is Éliou, a jewelry company based in Italy. Another classic piece we often see Styles in is palazzo pants, mainly worn in the late 60s and 70s but is making a comeback seen on his album cover for Fine Line.

One thing to say for sure about Harry and his presence in fashion is that it has helped many other young men step out of their comfort zone to try different styles than what they are used to. Alongside being on the cover of Vogue, he was also represented by a Gucci campaign for men’s tailoring in April 2022. His abundant accomplishments could never overshadow his impact in mens fashion and some of our favorite styles seen today.
